I've been very busy this summer with creative stuff, which is good for me.
We've been working on Sudbury '96 for about three weeks now and things are progressing well. It's going to take us all summer to shoot the thing and most of autumn to edit, so I imagine it won't be done for a while, but such a long-term project has instilled in me a bit of patience. Same thing with the oft-delayed tracking of the GIANTS record, which I think was supposed to start in March. We haven't tracked a single floor tom hit. That's okay though. It will happen. This patience has bled over into my attitude concerning The Big City Nights next record. I think we're going to just take all summer to record here and there in different places and on different formats and then put it out in August or so. I have a lot of material but no solid songs really written. I think that "Minimansions" will probably be on the next LP but aside from that, I really don't know anything except for the title, which will be Dancing Days.
We play the Tiger Bar tomorrow which should be fun. I imagine we'll record some new songs sometime in July.

Last night's show was the best we've played in a long time. It felt great. Thanks to everyone who came and dug it, or hated it but still applauded politely.

Fidelity Friends, GIANTS, and BCN news
Two of my buddies (and occasional members of The Big City Nights Band) Brent and Spencer have a new band called Fidelity Friends and their new record titled Twenty-Fifth and Nowhere is available for free download right here: http://fidelityfriends.bandcamp.com/
Highlights include the Rusty-esque "Intentional Accident", the muscular and insane "Cock Fight", and the country-ish strummer "Those Empty Days". The whole thing is great though and you should get it immediately. I mean it. Go do it now. I co-sang "Sunshine Pie", and "Party Riff" is part of GIANTS' live set.
Speaking of GIANTS, we're playing a show with Crop Failure, CESSNA, and some other band this Friday at Mark's house in Hamilton. I don't know the address though so I suppose it's pointless to tell you this. For show listings for all of my bands as well as a handy guide to all LGRC releases, go here: http://www.littleghostrecordingco.blogspot.com/
I wrote nine new songs today and we're making a new record the weekend of June 3rd, either up north at a friends' cottage or in Brampton. We'll have to wait and see. This one will be a mathier, rockier, more punishing affair than anything we've done before, and should hopefully get us onto radio stations nationwide, or at least a few shows here and there. The working title for this one is Hockey Tits. Yeah I know.
That's the news for now. You're coming to see us play this Saturday night at the Silver Dollar right? RIGHT!? Here's the facebook event page: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=224428200904589
Bye for now

Mercy Among The Children
The new record is done and you can download it for free right here: http://thebigcitynightsband.bandcamp.com/album/mercy-among-the-children
16 songs in under 30 mins, 3 covers (The Jiants, Longwave, and The Rolling Stones). No real drums at all, lots of book hitting and door slamming, though. Summertime music.
Played a cool show @ The Gladstone last night (forgot to mention that one), but none booked for the moment. Cheers.
